About Dr.Abdul Haq Urdu University, Kurnool

The University
The Dr. Abdul Haq Urdu University has been established by an Act of State Legislature Government of Andhra Pradesh (Act No. 13 of 2016, published 7th May 2016). The Act was amended as Act No 35/2018.


  • It is an Act to establish and incorporate a university at the state level mainly to promote and develop Urdu language.
  • To impart vocational and technical education in Urdu medium through campus based teaching and distance education modes.
  • To provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The Dr. Abdul Haq Urdu University (AHUUK), one of the major institutions of higher education in Andhra Pradesh is largely devoted to post graduate studies and is widely known for its excellence in Research and its distinguished faculty. The University has with Departments and Centre’s organized in 5 Schools of study.

THE CHANCELLOR
His Excellency Shri S. Abdul Nazeer the Honorable Governor of Andhra Pradesh State is the Chancellor of the Dr.Abdul Haq Urdu University. .

VICE-CHANCELLOR
The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, in his capacity as the Chancellor of the University has appointed Prof P.F. Rahaman as Vice Chancellor of the University.

Permanent Site of the University
The state Government has allocated 144 Acres of land for the permanent site of the Dr. Abdul Haq Urdu University at Orvakal on Kurnool – Nandyal highway (NH-40).

About Orvakal
The Orvakal is situated at a distance of approximately 17 km from Kurnool city. It is connected National Highway No. NH.40. In recent years, Orvakal has come to be known as the Rock city of Andhra Pradesh. It is a village and a Mandal of Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It also forms a part of Kurnool Urban Development Authority (KUDA).
